(Matthew 5:27-32) Jesus exposes lust as a heart issue and calls us to wage Spirit-empowered war against it, not excuse or minimize it.

(Matthew 5:17-48) Jesus raises the bar by confronting the heart and calling us from hidden anger to humble reconciliation that shapes our worship and witness.

(Matthew 5:1-16) The King’s sermon calls us out of the crowd and into a blessed life shaped by humility, holy desire, and lives that shine as salt and light.

(Matthew 4:12–25) Jesus calls ordinary people out of darkness to follow Him in a costly, communal discipleship that forms obedient witnesses of the kingdom.

(Matthew 4:1–11) Right after the beautiful moment of being baptized, Jesus is led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Why does Satan choose these three specific temptations, and what do they reveal about the human heart? Jesus passes the test, but he is much more than an example to us when we face similar temptations.

(Matthew 3:1-17) As John the Baptist cries out in the wilderness to prepare the way for his cousin the King, he calls God’s people to hearts of true repentance, marked by contrition, confession, and Spirit-empowered change so that they may be ready for the kingdom of heaven.

(Isaiah 11:1-12) The gospel includes the great news that from a mere stump, a shoot that bears fruit can grow! Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be that fruitful shoot for the healing of the nations. And for those who follow Jesus, our very stories of redemption - stumps turned into fruitful branches - would serve as signposts to a world that needs hope.

Jesus is the true King whose arrival exposes the fear and insecurity of false kings like Herod—and in us. Unlike rulers who grasp for power, He lays down His life to rescue us and invites us to lay our crowns before Him.

Unlike earthly kings who take, Jesus is the true Shepherd-King who lovingly seeks and cares for His people. Like the magi, we’re invited to worship Him with joyful hearts and open hands.
