Shell began his music career managing bands and artist in Papua New Guinea, before moving to the USA in 2006. When he arrived in the United States, he worked as a composer and sound designer for independent films while attaining an audio engineering degree. After his undergrad, he worked for 5 years as a front of house engineer, systems engineer, and production manager with artists such as: J Cole, Rick Ross, Colony House, Celo Green, David Crowder, and many more. 

  In 2014, he founded Crown Studios, a place for recording and producing records based in Jackson, Mississippi. His recording studio consistently provides artists with the highest quality product while offering a unique environment that is both boutique and innovative.  

In 2021, over 7 years of strategy culminated in the founding of JXN Music Group (JMG). JMG is an independent music label for developing sustainable careers for music artists. He focuses on cultivating an artists unique talent and positioning them in a way to capitalize on their strengths.

Zachary Thaggard is joined by Jermaine Van Buren Jr. on this special episode of The Merge Podcast. Jermaine Van Buren Jr. was born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS.  After graduating from Oak Grove High School, Jermaine received a Bachelor’s of Science-Theatre Track from Troy University.  At Troy, he was involved in Campus Outreach Ministries and First Baptist Church Troy which were very influential to his conversion in 2018 and further spiritual growth.  Jermaine is a student in the Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary.
