This episode is sort of a reintroduction of who I am and a new segment I'm calling "A Doula Watches...". This segment will always come with a content warning. Know that I will be talking about birth, birth trauma and evaluating behaviors and policies that make it into movies/TV. First up is Knocked Up. I recently watched through my doula-in-training eyes... and with the added context of having birthed a human... I was appalled. It's an "edutaining" look at the movie from my perspective. The disclaimer before my "review" is that I know it is a COMEDY. I understand it as a comedy, but I want to demystify birth. Birth in the media is not often portrayed in the most accurate way. Just trying to share some thoughts that may help you. Tell me what you think of this new segment on Instagram - @merewing_. You can listen to my other podcast, Guidance for Movement, at https://open.spotify.com/show/6RPgOtQ4tnRyD4ykHSAZx4 or on your favorite podcast app. Take care.
In this episode, I give you all a life update and thank my friend Tay for helping me gain control over my domain again. You can find Tay at https://www.instagram.com/theprescribedpotion/. She also has a podcast called The Prescribed Potion found on all platforms, check her out! I've been on it as well. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this story of synchronicities leading me to find the solution to the mirror-related fuckery. If you know, you know. As always, you can find me on Instagram, but I've changed my name - https://www.instagram.com/merewing_/. You can book readings by reaching out on Insta. We are low tech right now, but the magic is potent. MINI READINGS, the oh so popular, mini readings are back as well. $10 for a mini channeled message. I love that you guys love them as much as I love doing them. Love y'all. Drink your water.
Please enjoy this conversation with my doula and close friend, Meryl Seward. We detail her journey to becoming a doula, what drew her to birthwork and what all of it even means - to us. You can find Meryl at https://www.instagram.com/merylthedoula/. If you have any questions, as always, you can reach out to me. If it's doula related, I can be reached at [email protected] or https://www.instagram.com/lilyflowersdoulacare/.

We are both getting our certification through Cornerstone Doula Trainings. Our opinions expressed in this episode are just that - our own opinions. Certification is not necessary in some states, but it is something that felt important to me. It should not be a gatekeeping tactic to keep people from doula support though! Note: we say it in the podcast, but it's nice to have it in writing... Doula care is non medical support.

This episode is just a little bit more about my choice to say yes to birthwork and my approach to it. I am excited to be in a career that allows me to constantly grow and to support other humans. I hope you'll appreciate the baby sounds and short form episode for what it is - an accurate bit of life for me right now. I am soaking it all in and doing the best I can for myself and my family. I hope you're doing the same thing!
Sidenote: I'm sure it will be talked about in the next episode, but I wanted to link my Doula Trainers: Cornerstone Doula Training - https://www.cornerstonedoulatrainings.com/. They are an amazing organization filled with incredible people and I'm honored to be a part of and learn from the community.
This week on the podcast, Brittany (AKA: AstroWeatherLady), joins me to talk about solar, lunar and Saturn returns... oh my! Lots of information on this episode. As always, a big thank you to our guest this week. She brings the knowledge, passion and creativity! I hope you'll find her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/astroweatherlady/ and Etsy https://www.etsy.com/shop/astroweatherlady/. As I mentioned in the intro to the show, Mer's Net may be going to a bi-weekly release schedule. I kept up with the weekly releases for as long as I could, but my hope is that with the less frequent releases I can devote more time to my guests and the conversations that we are having. Thank you so much for listening.
