Messages by Desiring God

Our greatest need is not physical but spiritual. We crave the bread of life more than bread for our stomachs.

We should accept our calling wherever God has placed us, including prison, and we should first and foremost be loyal to the Bible, not to a certain theological camp.

Jesus offers himself to us freely as the food that endures to eternal life. No amount of working for God can make you taste him for the feast he is.

Jesus’ presence brings the kind of fullness that produces generosity and risk-taking in his church.

Jesus came not mainly to give bread but to be bread. He became the all-satisfying bread of life when he gave himself up for us.

As Christianity expands in the global South, the Western church must continue to support the developing church by sending and going.

Preaching Christ must keep the enjoyment of God as the highest good of the gospel and the glory of God as the highest goal of all history.

The word of God coming to us in the power of the Holy Spirit is sufficient to supply us with all the resources we need for satisfaction in God and dealing with all kinds of weaknesses in the church.

Right thinking about God is meant to fuel right admiration for God.

Since right thinking is meant to fuel right feeling our preaching must not only aim at the head but also the heart.
