In John 5, Bible Commentator, Dr. Merrill Tenney states that this marked the beginning of ‘Controversy Period’ for Jesus. Little wonder, because it is in this section that John lists Jesus giving 7 statements pointing to His divinity and equality with the Father. This outraged religious leaders of Judaism - but Jesus caps it off with 'if you believe Moses you would believe Me!'
