The Book of Revelation was written to an audience who would have understood it. Tonight we are going to take a look over their shoulder and attempt to see what they would have seen We begin by looking at what has been popularly called, The Four Horsemen. By understanding some of the historical context to the Book of Revelation we can better understand the Book and how it applies to us today.

With so much speculation about what the Book of Revelation is about, sometimes we can overlook its main and plain message. Written to Christians at a time declaring yourself to be a Christian could cost you your life, Christ reveals to His Church a glimpse of Heaven and the Throne of God where, despite all the turmoil happening on earth, there is perfect peace and joy. The original audience of the Book of Revelation were enduring massive persecution on two fronts. Tens of thousands of believers had already been martyred, and things were about to get a lot worse. Against this backdrop the Lord gives this Revelation to John to convey to the seven church of Asia Minor. This Revelation shows how different God’s perspective on world events is compared with ours.
