Daniel had been taken captive from Jerusalem to Babylon because his ancestors had behaved terribly. Rather than becoming bitter, Daniel stepped up and took responsibility for his ancestors' grievous sins. There are several key lessons to be learned from this dramatic episode of Daniel's life.

Daniel was taken away from his family, his home, his nation, his friends, and relocated to a land completely unfamiliar to him. Despite the obstacles he faced, he managed to flourish. In his senior years he began to have visions of the future and the coming Messiah.

In Daniel Chapter 6 we read one of the most dramatic stories in all of the Bible - Daniel in the lions' den. Held captive in Babylon, Daniel had determined to honour God and this commitment cost him dearly. Yet, God honoured his commitment and delivered him from a certain and untimely gruesome death.
