Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth and announces that the words of Isaiah are being fulfilled in Him. But the people who knew Him best struggle to accept who He truly is. Through the examples of the widow of Zarephath and Naaman the Syrian, Jesus reveals that God’s grace would reach beyond Israel to those once considered outsiders.

Their amazement quickly turns to anger, foreshadowing the rejection Jesus would ultimately face at the cross. Yet through that rejection, salvation would be proclaimed to the whole world.
