Lionel Messi’s Move to PSG
Whats good everybody and welcome back to the Puro Jogo podcast tonight were gonna jump into the soccer world and were gonna talk Messi the PSG transfer and Barcelona. You could’ve been anywhere in the world tonight but you’re here with me I appreciate that. Now let’s get it. Everyone is impatiently awaiting Messi’s debut at PSG but lets really dive in and touch on some key points surrounding the initial transfer of one of the greatest players of all time and the football club making massive moves this summer. For starters as we all await the debut of Lionel Messi all his teammates have already reported that they are thoroughly impressed by his initial performance at practice. There is no denying that when he is playing the game the his skill level is off the charts. This along with game intelligence, and his level of understanding of the game makes him a critical and dangerous player on the field anywhere he goes. Being a PSG fan watching Messi getting signed to join the likes of DiMaria Neymar Mbappe Sergio Ramos Marquinhos Hakimi I mean the list goes on and on is something you would typically only see in a FIFA fantasy team you hand pick yourself and even then its a long shot. PSG seems to understand what many championship teams have figure out when building out a team , which is that everyones level of play is enhanced or elevated when surrounded by greatness. Taking this part even further…the rumored Cristiano Ronaldo transfer to take place in 2022 is said to replace Mbappe. However with Mbappe not renewing his contract w PSG the possibility of transfer to Real Madrid is looking more and more like a possible reality. One that might come to fruition much sooner than expected. Theres still about a week left in the transfer window where more changes could be on the horizon. Whether its’ true or not this move would be a PSG fans dream come true. Granted would be sad to watch Mbappe leave But the endless possibilities on the pitch are mind blowing given that so many greats of our time would be on the same team leaving PSG stacked and surely on the hunt for a championship. The transfer Id like to focus on is the Messi transfer to PSG. The whole world was watching when the transfer was announced a couple weeks ago and Messi was on a podium emotional heart broken when he was dropped from Barcelona. EVERYONE empathized with the soccer star as he poured his heart out to his fans. Celebrities, other players, commentators, fans, everyone seemed to share a moment of clarity, nostalgia, and misery all at the same time. People blamed management, its leadership and demonized the decision being made to let one of the greatest and most elite players go after 21 years. While it is true that Leo offered to reduce his salary by 50% in order to stay, and financial obstacles due to the haunting salary cap prevented Barcelona to continue its relationship with the Argentine player I’m not too sure these were the only factors that went into the final cut decision. I personally hold no one else responsible for the transfer but Messi himself. Everyone seems to forget that this time a year ago Messi had every intention of leaving Barcelona under his own free will. He claimed he was unhappy and he only stayed in order to not go to war in a legal dispute w Barcelona. You cannot publicly announce that the club management is a disaster, claim you are unhappy, air out your dirty laundry in a public fashion and not expect irreparable damages. Loyalty is a two way street Im sure the 21 years prior had not been all sunshine and rainbows but during those years Barcelona was Messi and Messi was Barcelona. It would have been great to see Messi retire and finish out his career at Barcelona. It would have spoken volumes to what the definition of what a franchise player is and should be. The standard would have been set by player and club alike. But the damage had already been done.
