Messianic Torah Observant Israel

There’s more ‘heart’ to be discovered in the letter to the Romans as Rabbi Steve Berkson continues in chapters 8 and 10, breaking down verse by verse what the apostle Paul was communicating to the set-apart ones living in Rome at that time. Through Rabbi Steve’s teaching we find that Paul was not teaching against Torah observance, but rather, by living according to the Torah we become pleasing to the Father, who has adopted those who are obedient and has made them heirs to the riches that cannot be compared to anything in this present world.
Questions:
• Can you be led by the Spirit of Elohim through those who are anointed and appointed leaders and teachers?
• Will you argue or will you do whatever you’re instructed to do; even if you don’t understand now?
• How do you ‘vet’ or choose those to whom you should be listening?
• What will we be doing for a thousand years in the Father’s kingdom?

Continuing in the letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the faithful in Rome, Rabbi Steve Berkson again emphasizes that to understand what Paul was trying to say in this letter, context is crucial.
In chapter 6, again we see the contrasting of righteousness vs unrighteousness. We see how even the believers of that time were struggling to understand the purpose of Messiah Yeshua’s death and resurrection and how it relates to them.
In chapter 7 we will hear about Paul’s personal struggle with walking in death and walking in the new life that Messiah Yeshua provided.
As we move into chapter 8 Paul begins to reveal the light at the end of the tunnel – that there is no more condemnation to those whose desire it is to walk according to the spirit; by the words that Messiah Yeshua spoke which is Torah given by His Father. (John 6:63)
Bottom line – The Apostle Paul did not teach that the Torah is now done away with but that the penalty that comes from ‘law of sin and death’ has been abolished by the work of redemption through Messiah Yeshua. Halleluyah!

Rabbi Steve Berkson moves us into chapter 2 of the letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to the faithful in Rome (Romans 2). In part 47 of The Heart of the Matter Rabbi Steve hopes to give clarity to these passages that are typically taken out of context and misunderstood.
The theme in Romans chapter 2 that we will see is ‘righteousness verses unrighteousness’ and how we are judged as being one or the other. We will also see the terms ‘circumcision’ and ‘uncircumcision’ and how they could be interpreted as those who are born into the covenant through the bloodline (Jews) and those who choose to enter into covenant but are not of the bloodline (Greeks, or everyone else).
We will see that the Apostle Paul actually taught ‘Torah Observance’ (Rom 2:13) and how the heart being filled with faith and love for the Creator seeks to please Him by doing the “good works” – faith-based works.

Rabbi Steve Berkson continues teaching about the Heart of the Matter in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles and then begins in the Book of Romans. Some of the topics covered are, what is the purpose of signs and wonders?, Olympic Gold-Medal Conclusion Jumpers, what is ‘emunah’?, and more. Toward the last of this teaching Rabbi Steve speaks from his heart about the importance of not only our ‘vertical’ relationship with the Father but also our ‘horizontal’ relationship with each other.

Shifting gears as we go into the book of Acts, Rabbi Steve Berkson helps us look at the Heart of the Matter from the perspective of a ‘forming community.’
