In the 1st of our 5-part sermon series entitled “On Purpose”, we explore God’s Purpose for us this year as Christ’s body. Our Scripture passage emphasizes God’s purposes of total transformation, unity, and engagement in community. Metro’s focus for this year will be on proactively pursuing, fostering, and building Christian community which is very important to God, and in which we need to grow.

We are all faced with sin whether it’s our own or from the world. However, because we are in God and because He lives in us, we have the power to choose how sin will affect our souls. Bathsheba (Daughter of the Oath) knew who she was. Even when a king compromised her marriage and her husband, she was able to find the resolve to be faithful. To resolve to be faithful does not mean to “suck it up” - it means to stand firmly on the decision that we will not be shaken of who we are in God.
