From Michoacán, Mexico, René Arceo came to Chicago and studied at the Art Institute before joining the National Museum of Mexican Art. René has worked with Chicago Public Schools, and created galleries and project opportunities that have grown Mexican printmaking in Chicago and beyond. This fascinating discussion also speaks to the long history that dates back to Mexican indigenous forms of printmaking up through the growth of popularity in José Guadalupe Posada's forms of socially conscious printmaking.

After a long preparation period, and a difficult year filled with so much loss and pain, Minnesota faced tremendous trauma, not only because of COVID, but also with the senseless murder of George Floyd. This year, CLUES put together a beautiful festival to celebrate Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Death) in honor of the lives we lost, the community, and the people affected by COVID. The Festival highlighted a Mexican tradition dedicated to honor our beloved deceased with love, respect, and beauty. Enjoy this honest conversation with these two leaders of the Mexican Culture, they will explain the ins and outs of putting together an event to showcase our beautiful culture, art, and history.
