December 19th 2021-John 3:16-18: "For God so Loved the World", does not imply that God condoned men's behavior, but rather that he felt kindness toward them or was concerned for their happiness. God despises wrongdoing, but he nonetheless wishes for the happiness of sinners. "He despises sin but adores sinners." A father can love and care for his child while still being opposed to his child's behavior. The love of contentment is when we approve of another's behavior; the love of kindness is when we simply want them to be happy.
The world means the entire unredeemed human race. It does not refer to any specific region of the world, but to mankind as a whole - the race that had rebelled and deserved to die. John 6:33 and John 17:21 are two examples. These situations demonstrated his love for the world, or for all humans, in giving his Son"
