Earlier this month Mass General Brigham hospital system announced its largest layoff in the organization’s history, with an anticipated 1,500 job cuts. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the U.S. is facing a shortage of up to 124,000 physicians by 2034, including 48,000 primary care physicians.
