Connect a moment in time with an emotion so that it creates a lasting memory. If you ask people if they can recall what they were doing and where they were on 9/11/01 they will remember. But ask them about 8/11/01, they cannot. This is because on 9/11, the events created a tight bond with the time and place you were in, as well as with an emotion. The more these are connected, the better the memory.
