The Garret interviews writers about the craft of writing. But the literary industry includes more than just writers - editors, publishers, self-publishers, critics and agents all play roles. From now on, we will publish a bonus episode with a prominent figure in the literary industry once a season. 

First up is an interview with Michael Heyward of Text Publishing.

Michael joined Text in 1992 and hasn't looked back. He is now Managing Editor, and remains heavily involved with the publishing process. Prior to his career at Text, Michael founded the literary magazine Scripsi with Peter Craven.

Text is an independent, Melbourne-based publisher of literary fiction and non-fiction. Text won the Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) Small Publisher of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Text publishes Australian and international authors, including Graeme Simsion, Kate Grenville, John Marsden, Helen Garner, Tim Flannery, Geraldine Doogue, J.M. Coetzee, Toni Jordan and Nick Cave.
