I sat down with Ivan, the CEO of Lunacy/Icons8 and we discussed what their goals and ambitions are, upcoming features like AutoLayout, Web version, AI tools, paid vs free plans and a lot more!  

Lunacy is a multi-platform, Native design app that works on Windows, Mac OS and Linux. It saves and reads .sketch files, has multi-user cloud collaboration and a set of truly unique tools around AI, assets generation, predictive text and a lot more!   

Especially with the most recent Figma acquisition by Adobe, it's important to take a look at other, competing tools in the design, prototyping and collaboration space. I will continue to do it this year.

Portfolio design can be tricky. Many people go with trusted templates, while some try to be creative and build complex, robust websites. I believe you shouldn’t go too far either way, as the main reason for your portfolio and for your portfolio design is to deliver your work to the eyes of the recruiters and clients. So what makes your portfolio great? Is it lots of academic style ux research? Case studies full of the UX process? Or just focusing on what you actually CAN do?

I'm really excited about the future of Penpot and open source design tools in general. I'm not going to switch from Sketch, but I plan to use Penpot alongside it - and likely it will become my main teaching tool in the future.
