While the IoT industry continues to grow, there are predictions that the industry could see a hit if the security concerns are not addressed.

    Facebook is under fire once again. In early June, Facebook announced that due to a bug, 14 million users may have accidendtly shared posts publicly. Facebook said that the bug switched the sharing setting from “suggested” to “public” between May 18th and May 27th. While Facebook says the issue has since been fixed, security and user privacy continues to be is a common theme and concern as of late.

  • Major Canadian Banks Investigating Data Breach Claims

    Customers of the Bank of Montreal (BMO) and Simplii Financial, the direct banking brand of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) were notified on Monday that an investigation into a possible data breach was launched after malicious actors claimed to have obtained personal and account information. Bank of Montreal and Simplii Financial are two of Canada’s five largest banks. BMO has 8 million customers and believes that less than 50,000 of them have been impacted and CIBC believes that possibly 40,000 of its clients may have been affected.

However, they’ve also received some flack for their lack of security measures. Some people are sketipcal on how much these devices can actually hear and what is being done with the information we give. One family in Portland actually experienced what many fear. Their Echo actually recorded and send a private message to an individual on the family’s contact list.
