Our long-time friend and colleague, Xeres of Xeron, returns to the show, to offer his own take on the “jukebox” theme, by offering a wide ranging mix of music and tunes that are near and dear to his heart. Aside from some production details, this show was entirely sequenced and written by Xeres, giving it a different flavor than your average show.

We also continue to promote the show coming up on July 11th, with The Dead Air Fresheners, Brad Anderson, and Eila Star. This show is gonna be a lot of fun, and since it’s happening at the Portland Arts Collective, you’ll be in the heart of Old Town Portland, a good chance to appreciate a part of the Northwest that is unique and fun. Several of these folks, from this show, will be joining me on the air next week, on July 7th, to talk up the show, and give listeners a taste of what they can expect. It should be a good time, and you should join us, if you can.

We also hear from a new addition to the Lava Lamp Lounge: a new keyboard, that I play a couple times throughout the show.

Taking a simple case is never simple for Richard Diamond, especially when he’s hired by someone who turns up dead before he can even get to know what he’ll be doing trying to suss out The Evans Farmer Case. Before long Diamond is on the case, looking into insurance fraud, and enjoying a set of local cabins in the area. Meanwhile, Rocky Jordan is woken in the middle of the night by a Paul Frees character who tries to extort him, leading Rocky into a Shakedown that involves the Italian Government, his friend Sam, and a part of Rocky’s past that might come back to kill him, if he’s not careful.

In Hour 2, we offer another installment of “The Century” as part of Dimestore Revelations. Then, Blackstone is hired to help foil some diamond thefts, by using a magnetized coin and a compass built into his watch to show what a pair of scam artists were really doing. Lastly, we offer the X-Minus One  story “Lulu,” about a computer in a spaceship that goes crazy and nearly kills the crew inside… all because she fell in love?

Our dynamic duo have been separated from each other, as they each continue their work as crew members on The Silver Sailer. Both univac and Austin meet The Captain.

Torrent and Napster each work to find a way out of the Quantum Foam, and are looking forward to picking up more work. But as is often the case, life on the Silver Sailer is far more complicated than it is on the surface.

Jukebox Jams 3: By The Seat of Our Pants

We offer another Jukebox Show this week, where Austin is looking through his archive of different things that he hasn’t played on the show in a while, and… plays them on the show. Music new, old, connecting to current events, and in some cases, just good songs worth hearing again.

Bandit calls in a couple times this week, but experiences some problems, including getting hit in the head by things falling out of their closet, and having complete chaos break out in their home. Later they call to mention the discovery of some very strange dolls in their closet. We also promote the upcoming appearance on the show by Valarie of Eila Star, who in turn will be promoting a show they are playing in Portland, on July 11th, DJing, playing live, and all the usual things that make radio fun.

We are also treated to some information about how jukeboxes actually work. And: the return of the delay pedal!

Two Helens are better than one this week, as we have two stories with characters named Helen! First up, we seen Richard Diamond & his girlfriend, Helen, out on a date at a Carnival. However, it doesn’t take long before murder, clowns, wrestlers and psychics are conspiring to turn Diamond’s off-hours into. a very deadly case that needs solving, and fast! Meanwhile, our good friend Rocky Jordan, an encounter with a businessman in search of a new way to sell old beer, leads Rocky to get involved in a murder, a Professor and his wife Helen, and a narcotics smuggling ring that could spell certain doom for Rocky, if he’s not careful.

In Hour 2, we offer another installment of “The Century” as part of Dimestore Revelations. Then, it’s up to Blackstone to help relieve a bank teller of ringing bells, and a scam that’s accompanying them by a nefarious Professor Calgar, a supposed “spiritual advisor” who is up to no good. And lastly, on X-Minus One, we hear a story by Poul Anderson, where the intersection of classical art & space exploration meet on The Moon, with astounding evidence that must be heard to be believed!

In one of the more stereotypical cases for Richard Diamond this week, Edna Wolfe hires him to investigate a cheating husband, but as Diamond continues to investigate, the case gets murkier and murkier. Meanwhile, Rocky Jordan accidentally witnesses a woman commit a murder, but his eye-witness report is contradicted by a Bishop, who saw the same incident, and swears a man did it. Could it be that both of them are right, somehow?

In Hour 2, we offer another installment of “The Century” as part of Dimestore Revelations. Then, while Blackstone demonstrates a trick that allows him to seemingly manifest goldfish from thin air, he regales our audience about a case where some pearls were stolen, and the same gimmick was used to help catch the their. Lastly, on X-Minus One, we hear a story of an unusual new solar powered rocket that was predicted in the Poseidon Tablets. But will anyone be able to fly it before the ship disappears?

The Outside Agitators & Coronation Wound Interview

We spend three hours with Coronation Wound – a new hardcore band that is playing their first show on Thursday! During that three hours we interview the members of the other act on the bill – The Outside Agitators – and then DJ a bunch of music that members of both bands selected. It’s a ton of fun, and you get to hear it all.

Of course, we’re supporting a tour for The Outside Agitators, when we mentioned last week, and we continue to mention this week. And while we’re talking, we address the importance of being a political band, now, in 2026.

And as a bonus: Joshua Blanchard (from Major Hex, Point Line Plane, and a number of other bands) stops by, to give us some updates on the tour he just returned from, and snaps a photo of us.
