When I paid off my home the title deed of ownership was sent to me. It took seventeen years and it is a great feeling to own the property outright. Adam sold off planet earth six thousand years ago when he sinned. But there will be a moment in the future of the earth where Jesus, due to His worthiness, will take back the planet because He paid the price. We now come to the last church in Revelation. The church at Laodicea. These guys look great on the outside, but Jesus says, they are in denial about their real selves. And one of the tells we find of their deep denial is in Revelation 3:17 where Jesus says, “You say.” That is their denial statement. They are “saying” they are okay. They are “saying” have together. They are “saying” this is God’s will…but it’s not. Denial is real and it is destructive. Join me as we dive into the last of the seven churches in Revelation!

As we continue through the seven churches we come to the church in Sardis. This local church needs to get back on track. Jesus informs them that they “have a name that they are alive, but are in fact dead.” That is not a good report card for a local church. It seems one of their problems was they were living in past glory. Too many churches and individual Christians live this way. Jesus now addresses the church at Pergamum. It seems they have let some false teaching invade their ranks. Specially the teaching of Balaam and the Nicolaitans. This is a relevant letter to one of the seven churches in Revelation. It warns us to walk in strict pure doctrine and not allow the winds of false teachers and teachings invade our local body.  This is so important to Jesus that He says He will make war against those spreading false teaching. As we continue our travels through Revelation we now enter into the letters to the 7 churches. Each entails a specific message to that church and also to us individual Christians. As we begin with the church at Ephesus, we find that something in their relationship with Jesus has gone off the rails. They have “Left their first love.” We know that first love is Jesus. Jesus now gives them simple instructions that we can all follow to retrieve that lost love with God and with others.  Should be a good one and I hope you tune in!!
