Wisconsin's corn silage harvest is nearing completion.  It's getting to be time to look at forage inventories and pricing when it comes to buying and selling corn silage to feed dairy and livestock.  Farm director, Pam Jahnke sits down with Ryan Sterry of UW-Extension in St. Croix County to discuss how to decide what the crop is worth.  There are many resources to farmers that Sterry mentions are available.

Big news at the state capitol yesterday for Wisconsin Agriculture.  The Wisconsin State Senate finally passed the long awaited official confirmation of the Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Randy Romanski.  Stephanie Hoff had the chance to catch up with him while he attended the World Dairy Expo yesterday.

One of the hottest spots on the Alliant Energy Center grounds for the World Dairy Expo is the grilled cheese stand!  The Badger Dairy Club and UW Collegiate Farm Bureau coordinates the stand as a fundraiser and usually sells around 30,000 grilled cheese sandwiches and 15,000 chocolate shakes.  Billy Zeimet is one of the co-chairs of the stand and shared why their food is so popular.

Robotics are not new to the dairy industry by any means, but they are always advancing and improving to help farmers be more efficient and profitable.  Josh Jens of Lely North America says that even though many people think of robotics as just milking the cows, there are many other aspects of farm work they can assist with.  He also discussed the advantages of using robotics on the farm.
