In Today's Episode our host Mon speaks with Emma McGuire about her high risk pregnancy. With bleeding early on in her pregnancy due to a Subchorionic Haematoma Emma found herself in and out of hospital earlier than expected. At 21 weeks Emma's waters broke requiring her to be admitted as in inpatient up until the birth of her very premature baby at 27 weeks. Jack was born into the world via an emergency c-section and stayed in the NICU for a lengthy 102 days before he was brought home. Emma described this time as 'living a double life' which many families with a baby in NICU will understand as she tried to look after her other two young children at home, start her own business, all whilst going into the hospital everyday for hours on end to be there for her baby Jack.

In today Episode our host Mon speaks with new Mum Tess O'Connor. As a practicing midwife herself, Tess decided to explore the private midwife system with the goal of having a home birth. Her daughter Hazel entered the world at 42 weeks and Tess shares some of the challenges she had to overcome in the weeks waiting to meet her baby girl.

Tess touches on her difficult conception journey, her mindset around the potential of being induced, trusting your body to go into labour and some of the challenges during the early postpartum period.

In today's episode our host Mon speaks with Chloe Cox about her experience into motherhood. With an unexpected but exciting discovery that she was pregnant Chloe found herself having to adjust to the idea of motherhood earlier than anticipated.

After a complex birth via forceps in theatre Chloes birthing experience left her with multiple emotions surrounding her birth. In the next coming months postpartum Chloe started to feel less like herself and experience feelings associated with postnatal depression. Chloe takes us on her journey with overcoming PND and perinatal anxiety & depression and hopes that this episode provides education & insight into what this condition can present as and how both women and men can mask how they are feeling postpartum.

In today's episode our host Mon speak's with Ella Heyne where she shares with us her unique motherhood journey. Ella unfortunately suffered with extreme hyperemesis gravidarum throughout the entirety of her pregnancy where she required multiple hospital admissions and home care to get through her every day life. Ella highlights the hard truths behind what living with Hyperemesis is really like and the impact that it can have not only on your physical but mental health as well as the ongoing invisible affects post birth. Ella's daughter Annie made an early & speedy entry into the world requiring a NICU admission which made postpartum recovery very challenging for Ella. With a combination of lack of horizontal rest and constant strain on her pelvic floor from vomiting throughout her pregnancy Ella experienced a stage 3 prolapse. Ella takes us on her recovery journey and helps educate & raise awareness about HG & prolapse.

In today's episode our host Mon speaks with Brisbane based Mumma, Rachel Ownsworth about her motherhood experience. After a straightforward conception journey Rachel envisioned the rest of her pregnancy to take the same path; however at 14 weeks she found herself in the emergency department after experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen which was found to be appendicitis.

After an uncomplicated procedure to remove her appendix Rachel was discharged home only to find herself being remitted with a serious wound infection that put both herself and her baby at extreme risk.

With her partner being away until 36 weeks for work this added additional stresses to her pregnancy with the thought that he may not make it to the birth due to covid restrictions.

After hesitation, Rachel found herself booked in for an induction where her labour took a turn and baby Hugo was born via an emergency caesarean. Rachel opens up to us about the real and raw emotions she has surrounding her birth as it was not what she had ever imagined.

Both Rachel and I hope that if you to have experienced negative emotions surrounding your birth that these feelings are validated and that you are not alone. Please welcome Rachel.

In today's episode our host Mon speaks with Melbourne based Dads Phil & Dan where we discuss part two of their surrogacy journey.

Phil and Dan embarked on this journey in America instead of Australia, with surrogacy not being common in Australia. In part one of this two part episode Phil and Dan revealed the ins and outs of their surrogacy journey and the many challenges and obstacles they faced to make it possible.

In part two we discuss their journey over to America including the birth of daughter Penelope and their journey back to Australia and how they have adjusted to parenthood over the last three months. It is an episode filled with lots of emotion, love and excitement as after two years from beginning their surrogacy journey they finally have their baby girl in their arms.

It is an incredible story which we are so grateful to be able to share with you all as it is so important to bring more education surrounding this topic.
