The year is 2150. The place, Alpha Centauri. Once the home of a species known as the Osirans, the system is now desolate, inhabited only by the human colonists and hundreds of ruined structures.
You are students at Timoshenko Academy on Bast Habitat, a reclaimed space station. The atmosphere is breathable, but alien flora and fauna fill the station. Timoshenko is the top academy in the system, producing many xenoarchaeologists, xenobiologists, and other scientists. It's also known for being a bastion of xenos-friendly thought, and many “Alexandrians”-- obsessive fans of Osiran life, fashion and biology-- call the dorms home.
Timoshenko is a safe place, generally free from the terrors that plague the rest of the system-- Terrorist attacks by the Eye of Re, brutality from the freelance police organizations, and so on. You are all starting 12th grade, and will have to choose whether to move into the university buildings or strike out into the wider world, whether for fame, science, or ideology.
But you've got some time before that. In the mean time, maybe you can get a date with that cute guy from Class 3-B. Or maybe you'll spend your evening out in the coral forest, rocking to xenobeat. If only you had xeno-ears, you'd get a lot more out of it...
