A Laois mother, who's waiting for a heart transplant, is urging people to become an organ donor. Portarlington's Denise Geoghegan went to hospital last month, after having difficulty breathing and swelling in her legs and feet, and was diagnosed with a heart function of 10 per cent. She was very tired over Christmas, but thought that was down to her busy schedule as a mother of three. Ms. Geoghegan is now in the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where she'll wait until a compatible heart can be found. She's been speaking with Will Faulkner on the Midlands Today Show:

An Offaly woman is speaking out at the levels of abuse she's received over a number of years, insisting it's not just celebrities that get hate mail. Angela Burns from Rhode received her first threatening card in the post 8 years ago. More recently, her partner has also gotten Valentine's cards allegedly from the same person. Ms. Burns says the cards didn't bother her at first, because she believed the sender was a coward. But now regrets suffering in silence and not sharing the sinister mail on social media sooner.
