Midwest Bias episodes

  • Managing Ducks in the Middle of Norway
Episode 2 - Kj kicks off this episode by reading listener comments from last week's episode before launching into Questions with the Midwest Guest Co-host of the week, Kim Willson (@KimWills33 on Twitter) (4:13)! They discuss why the Minnesota Twins didn't put a roof on their stadium, the Midwest 4-way stop conundrum, do you say Ant or Aunt?, where else Midwesterns might feel comfortable living, Midwest coffee culture?, how long you have to live somewhere to be able to say you're from that place, the Driftless area, more potluck talk, and much more. Then, they are joined by this week's Guest "Expert," Patrick Moffett (@MoffettPatrick on Twitter and Instagram), who brings along his East Coast, West Coast, and Mountain Biases (45:40)! Patrick explains his life in the middle of the Utah desert, helps answer a listener question, they talk some baseball about the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Minnesota Twins, sourdough bread, why Utah might rival in any other place in the country for Kim and Kj to visit, and much more! A good (central standard) time was had by all! Decoding the Driftless documentary trailer link: https://vimeo.com/290605003

  • That's a Straight Up Uff da!
Episode 1: That's a Straight Up Uff Da! Episode 1 - It's the inaugural Midwest Bias episode and in true Speaking of Tangents podcast fashion, the episode went a little long. Kj kicks off this episode by explaining the genesis of the Midwest Bias podcast and its planned structure. Next, it's time for Questions with the Co-host (4:53) - with the Hall of Famer (HOFer)! They define what constitutes the Midwest, talk the Minnesota Twins and the lowly Boston Red Sox, potlucks, tater tot hot dish, Friday night fish frys, taverns, and tavern sandwiches (?). Later, Kj joins the HOFer to taste some Colorado brews in Taste Test with the Hall of Famer (32:25)! Then, they are joined by this week's Guest "Expert," Professor Brad Weiss (@1BradWeiss on Twitter), who brings along his East Coast Bias, plus a splash of West Coast and Midwest Bias (42:40). Brad shares his definition of the Midwest, they answer a listener question about Chicago, and Brad tries to sell us on North Carolina. Music, barbecue, donuts, and ice cream are among the many reasons to visit NC. Thanks, Brad! A good (central standard) time was had by all! About Midwest Bias

From the publisher's feed

Another podcast for your ears. Kj in Minnesota hosts this spin-off podcast from the Speaking of Tangents podcast (hosted by Kj & Jason Fuse). Tired of the East Coast Bias? In this podcast, Kj answers listener questions, tells stories, discusses Midwest sports teams and other Midwest-related news that the rest of the country ignores, and talks about other random nonsense - all with a Midwest Bias. Kj is joined by a revolving cast of cohosts from the Midwest and "experts" from all over the country to share their own biases. You should join us...yeah, you betcha!
