Midwest Super Pixel Pros - Audio

The gang busts out the old-school 16-bit Sega Genesis! We polish up our space shooter skills in Zero Wing, bust out the chains on high-speed motorbikes in Road Rash 3, and finish things off with some intense volleyball spikes and serves in Super Volleyball! This week’s discussion topic is their favorite gaming beverages over the years, where we range from preferences from water to coffee to obscure energy drinks to straight-up…..barley water!

We kick off this week’s show to kick off 2024, Pixel Pros-style, in the form of a round of Mario Party Superstars on the Switch! This friendly contest will be just like any other carefree, lighthearted Mario Party affair with absolutely none of us detesting each other by the end of the show in any way whatsoever!

Amber returns to guest on the show alongside her better half, Caleb, to play a pair of lovably-bashy-party games on the show in the form of the loosey-goosey stick figure battler that is Gang Beasts, and its unofficial/slightly more polished/fleshed-out follow-up, Party Animals!

Forks Sports Highway host, Ravynne, guests on today’s show with a trio of requested games on the show! Way back in 2006, Burger King released a trilogy of Burger King-themed video games for Xbox and Xbox 360 - Sneak King, Pocketbike Racers, and Big Bumpin’! All three games are unapologetically loaded with gratuitous Whoppers & Onion Rings, BK signage & paraphernalia, and yes, even the friggin’ King mascot himself is in here in all his Dollar-Store-Monster-Costume-creeper glory! Join us to discover which of the three games ranges from rancid-onion-ring-reject to King-sized-approved!

The Ultimate Pixel Pro Championship is on the line as Chris returns to the show to defend his title belt against Paul, Katie, and Dale in the newest and final wave of DLC tracks in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! In what may be the last time this show-favorite racing game will be played on the show, no green/red/spiny Koopa-shell will go to waste, every banana peel will be on target, invincibility stars will run rampant, but only one daring driver will emerge victorious and going home with the Ultimate Pixel Pro Championship!!!

The Midwest Pixel Pros crew is off for the extended Thanksgiving weekend, so in its place is a collection of specially curated picks of the gang’s favorite discussion segments from over the past year of shows! This covers all kinds of topics from our favorite memories of the Super Nintendo, looking back at gaming with our parents, flashbacks of actual good educational games, our favorite gaming snacks, and both parts of our dramatic reading of the screenplay, “Time Knife”! Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving from Grand Forks Best Source!!!

The Pixel Pros continue where they left off last episode by picking up their save file from the Super Mario Bros 3 remake on Super Mario All-Stars on the Switch. Save states will once again be exploited! We also have part two of our “dramatic theater reading” of part two of “Bruce Livingston”’s screenplay, “Time Knife” performed as it was originally written tucked inside an email collectible from the Remedy-developed video game, Quantum Break!

The Pixel The Pixel Pros felt they gave short shrift to the legendary Super Mario Bros 3 and refire it up the Super Mario All-Stars version on the Switch and exploit its save state feature to make all-new progress! This week's discussion segment is giving proper recognition to one of gaming's best kept secrets with a dramatic reading of the script, “Time Knife,” hidden as a lost email from the Remedy game, Quantum Break!

It's that time of the year again for the Pixel Pros to break out some of their most frightful and spookiest games of the year! This year we are attempting to survive an alien invasion in the immersive puzzle-thriller, Somerville. We follow it up with some old-school CastleVania and Resident Evil, and sprinkle in a couple of other surprise spooky games. For our discussion segment, Paul has his review of Mortal Kombat 1.
