Our minds, hearts, and wills must be involved if we are going to glorify God in RESOLVING CONFLICT IN THE CHURCH then we need to come to terms with 6 logistics...

1. Realize that there WILL be CONFLICT in the CHURCH. (v.1a)

2. Know WHERE to AVOID and WHERE to ADHERE when facing CONFLICT. (v.1b)

If we have been saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will do the following:

1. Seek. (v.1)

2. Set. (v.2)

3. Surrender. (v.)

4. Status. (v.4)

Summary: by God’s GRACE we will embrace our Calling to Discipline by...

1. Rightly identifying the true problem in the church (1-2)

2.Understand the Biblical solution to deal with overt sin in the church (3-8)

3.Learn from Scripture how to live as children of light in a world of darkness (9-13)

a. Stand out from unbelieving people in the world

b. Set apart the unrepentant person from the church

c. Serve in the work of the gospel because of the coming judgment of God –we want every person to be ready for that Day!

As People of Grace, how will we embrace our calling to Discipline? We must...

I. Rightly Identify the True Problem in the Church (vv.1-2)

II. Understand the Biblical Solution to deal with Overt Sin in the Church (vv.3-8)

Learn from Paul’s heart as a spiritual father when he reproved the Corinthians so that we may grow in our own Christian discipleship:

1. Why did Paul reprove the Corinthians? (v.14)

A. Paul did not write in Anger to Shame them (14a)

B. Paul did write in Love to Warn them (14b)

2. What were the Objectives of Paul’s Reproof? (vv.15-20)

A. Remember how and through whom the gospel came to you (v.15)

B. Return to [Gospel Centered] Discipleship (v.16)

C. Receive Instruction from the Appointed Leader (v.17)

D. Reject Division and those who Cause It for the sake of God’s kingdom (v.18-20)

3. How Paul empowered the Corinthians to Succeed through Reproof (v.21)

A. Their response would determine the tone of their next meeting.

Paul uses three daggers to expose and slay PRIDE bringing an end to STRIFE for the sake of GOSPEL UNITY...

1. Proper SUBMISSION to Authority (v.6-7)

2. SARCASM revealing Foolish Thinking (v.8)

3. God’s SOVEREIGNTY in Suffering (v.9-13)

O that we will Glorify God and thrive in making disciples when we fully understand and embrace the reality that Ministers of the Gospel have from God:

I. Their Identity: They are Servants of Christ and Stewards of the mysteries of God (v.1)

II. Their Requirement: Be found faithful (v.2)

III. Their Evaluation: Will ultimately come from God (v.3-5)
