A court in Sydney has heard that a young woman leading a class action over a police strip search was degraded and humiliated in an experience "akin to a sexual assault".
NSW police have admitted the search that was conducted at a music festival was unlawful, but have not accepted fault in strip searching thousands of other festivalgoers who have joined the landmark case.
