Recruiters are warning the global uncertainty caused by US President Donald Trump's tariffs and his trade war with China is affecting hiring plans in Australia. The unemployment rate rose slightly in March, as 32,000 people found employment and the pool of unemployed people increased by 3,000. The jobless rate lifted to 4.1 per cent, up from 4 per cent. Economists also say the geopolitical and economic uncertainty could weigh heavily on the jobs market this year and that will be playing on the Reserve Bank's mind. The RBA is widely expect to cut interest rates when it meets in May.
