On June 22, Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te delivered a speech titled "10 lectures on unity." Framed under the beguiling theme of "country," the address is full of vague rhetoric, distortions, and factual inaccuracies. Lai also deliberately misinterpreted United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 – passed in 1971 – and claimed that the two sides of the Taiwan Straits were "not subordinate to each other."
CGTN Stringer took to the streets of Taipei to gather local opinions. A resident surnamed Lin said that Lai Ching-te had set a bad precedent and made Taiwan too chaotic.
"I think Taiwan and the mainland are inseparable, and I am Chinese," he said.
