United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he is "profoundly alarmed" at the military escalation between Iran and Israel and strongly appealed to all parties "to avoid any further internationalization of the conflict."

Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, has paid a visit with a delegation of Taiwan students to some historical sites in the city of Fuzhou, southeast China's Fujian Province. The stop in Fuzhou is part of their two-week visit to the Chinese mainland. The sites they visited in Fuzhou include the Former Residence of revolutionary martyr Lin Juemin (1887-1911), the Taiwan Guild Hall, and the Memorial Hall for Lin Zexu, who led efforts to fight against opium smuggling in the 19th century. The Ma Ying-jeou Foundation said this evoked shared historical memories for people from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
