“Surprising” — that's how Forward Future section jury member Cyril Schäublin described the standout quality of the shortlisted works by young Chinese filmmakers, responding to a question from CGTN Digital reporter Zhang Meng at the 15th Beijing International Film Festival.

In 2010, the United Nations designated April 20 as "UN Chinese Language Day." This date corresponds to "Grain Rain," one of China's 24 solar terms, marking the day when Cangjie, the legendary inventor of Chinese characters, created them.

To mark the 15th anniversary of UN Chinese Language Day, Professor Peteris Pildegovičs, a sinologist from Latvia, and his students organized a series of activities to promote and share Chinese culture. A song titled "The Chinese Language – Brilliant with Charm!" was also composed. While vividly portraying the vitality of spring rains nourishing crops, the song also pays tribute to Cangjie for creating the written language and highlights the role of language as a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding. In essence, it's a joyful celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity and equality.

Professor Pildegovičs, now 87 years old, also made a heartfelt appearance in the video to express his congratulations.
