It's a race against time as Myanmar reels from a magnitude-7.9 earthquake that hit a vast swath of the country on March 28. With villages flattened, roads severed and remaining hospitals overwhelmed, the death toll keeps rising and millions have been displaced. Two weeks on, how is the situation on the ground and how are humanitarian organizations and aid agencies coping with the aftermath of the tragedy? In this edition of The Hub, Wang Guan talks to Noriko Takagi, UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Representative in Myanmar, to discuss some of the pressing issues her team is facing as water, food, shelter and electricity shortages pose serious medical and humanitarian risks. "It's a humanitarian crisis on top of another already acute humanitarian crisis," she noted, referring to the millions of people who have already been displaced due to Myanmar's internal conflict. Takagi also remarked that China has been one of the first countries to provide assistance and that stronger support from the international community is urgently required.
