A man has reportedly been sucked into a plane engine and killed after breaking onto an airport runway in Milan.

Operations at the busy Orio al Serio Airport, known as Milano Bergamo, came to a halt at 10.20am local time Tuesday after a "fatal accident" involving a Volotea plane on the tarmac.

The unidentified Italian man, around 35, was not a passenger on the plane and had no association with the airline, according to Volotea.

He is believed to have broken into the airport by driving the wrong way down a road, abandoning his car and then running towards the terminal.

Once inside the ground-floor arrivals area, he is said to have opened a security door that leads directly to the aircraft parking area.

Witnesses said he was chased by police as he sprinted across the runway, according to La voce del Patriota, but they were unable to stop him.

He made a beeline for an Airbus A319 Volotea aircraft bound for Asturias, Spain.

Airport sources told local media that the man was pulled into the aircraft engine in a horrifying moment just as the plane was preparing to depart.

His death has not been officially confirmed by any major authorities but has been widely reported on local media.

A Devastating photo showing the smiling faces of the Camp Mystic girls has become the symbol of the Texas floods as the death toll climbs to 104.

The entire group from the Bubble Inn cabin — 13 girls and two counselors — were swept away when a wall of water slammed through the summer camp.

Camp Mystic confirmed 27 campers and counselors have died in the disaster, with four still missing.

Among the lost are some of the camp's youngest attendees, aged just eight and ten.

The Bubble Inn cabin sat just 500 feet from the Guadalupe River, where the floodwaters hit hardest over the July Fourth weekend.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province was belching volcanic ash clouds 18 kilometres (11 miles) into the sky on Monday (July 7) after an "explosive eruption", the country's volcanology agency said.

The explosion, which the agency said came with loud thuds, comes nearly one month after the volcano erupted and spewed towering ash clouds 11 kilometres high, leading to flight cancellations in and out of the nearby island of Bali.

Lewotobi Laki-laki's alert level status remains at its most severe on Monday, Indonesia's volcanology agency said, warning tourists to stay outside a 6-km radius around the volcano and keep their distance from expected lava flows in the area.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an area of high seismic activity atop multiple tectonic plates. The country has more than 120 active volcanoes.

New South Wales Police released CCTV footage on Monday, July 7, which captured the incredible moment an arsonist set a Sydney salon and himself on fire.

According to police, emergency services were called to the shop in Burwood, in the city’s inner west, at about 5 am on Friday, June 13, following reports of a fire.

“The fire resulted in the evacuation of a residential complex above the shop,” police said.

Newly released security footage shows the pair of arsonists haphazardly breaking into the salon and spreading an accelerant on the floor.

One of the masked men can be seen slipping on the accelerant before the other suspect lights the salon on fire, accidentally igniting his pants in the process.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and no injuries were reported.

NSW Police launched an investigation and believe the two men in the CCTV may be able to assist with their inquiries.
