  • NY Times editor allegedly threatened to ‘shoot’ reporter during heated dispute over Harvard story
A New York Times reporter filed a human resources complaint alleging that his editor issued a “death threat” after she allegedly threatened to “shoot” him, another editor and herself during a heated dispute over a story, according to a report. NY Post reporter Ariel Zilber shares this story.
Tensions flared between veteran business editor Ellen Pollock and reporter Rob Copeland in the run-up to publishing a critical article on Harvard University’s handling of the Trump administration’s controversial demands to rein in alleged antisemitism, according to the Breaker newsletter.
Copeland, the award-winning author of a widely acclaimed exposé about Ray Dalio and his hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, co-wrote the story alongside fellow Times scribes Maureen Farrell and Michael S. Schmidt.
In the pre-publication process, Copeland was summoned into an office meeting with Pollock and editor Michael Corkery, the newsletter reported.
The story was viewed within the halls of the newspaper as an especially sensitive topic given Harvard’s ties to multiple Times staff, including executive editor Joe Kahn.
The dispute reached a climax during the office meeting when Pollock lashed out, screaming at Copeland for not adhering to her directions, sources told Breaker. The screaming session lasted “hours,” according to a source.

  • Rare New Zealand snail filmed for the first time laying an egg from its neck
The strange reproductive habits of a large, carnivorous New Zealand snail were once shrouded in mystery. Now footage of the snail laying an egg from its neck has been captured for the first time, the country’s conservation agency said Wednesday.
What looks like a tiny hen’s egg is seen emerging from an opening below the head of the Powelliphanta augusta snail, a threatened species endemic to New Zealand.
The video was taken at a facility on the South Island’s West Coast, where conservation rangers attempting to save the species from extinction have cared for a population of the snails in chilled containers for nearly two decades.

  • Donald Trump's superstitious habits: From tossing salt to touching Air Force One
President Donald Trump is superstitious, and he’s not afraid to let people know. During his second term, the President even admitted to his superstitious tendencies when he announced he was delaying his ‘Liberation Day’ reciprocal tariffs to April 2, fearing an April 1st deadline would coincide with April Fool’s Day. While campaigning, he always ends his rally tour before Election Day in Grand Rapids, Michigan because he’s “a little bit superstitious.” But what the president does before boarding a flight will really leave you wondering what to do the next time you’re getting on a plane.

  • JD Vance criticizes Russia for "asking for too much" in Ukraine peace negotiations
Vice President JD Vance lambasted Russia Wednesday, saying the Kremlin was “asking for too much” in exchange for ending its 38-month-old invasion of Ukraine. The Trump administration has expressed frustration with both Ukraine and Russia for their unwillingness to meet face-to-face to discuss an end to Europe’s bloodiest conflict since the end of the Second World War — but Vance’s comments represent some of the most direct criticism of Moscow by a White House official since the 47th president took office.

On May 6 the Louisville Fire Department responded to a serious semi-truck crash on I-65 South, just beyond the Kennedy Bridge, where the truck’s cab was left hanging dangerously off the edge of the interstate. Rescue crews acted swiftly, deploying a high point rope system to lower a firefighter into the cab and reach the trapped driver. The delicate operation took about 30 minutes and ended with the driver safely handed off to Louisville Metro Emergency Medical Services. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
