Many Christians believe the church is where Jesus was buried and it continues to be a major pilgrimage site.

Now, the discovery of 2,000 year-old olive trees and grapevines are believed to reflect accounts in the Gospel of John of where Jesus was crucified and laid to rest.

London’s streets were filled with thousands of trans rights protesters who marched through the city days after the Supreme Court ruled on the definition of a woman.

Demonstrations were organised after the UK’s highest court confirmed the terms “woman” and “sex” in the 2010 Equality Act “refer to a biological woman and biological sex”.

This means transgender women with a gender recognition certificate can be excluded from single-sex spaces if “proportionate”.

The government said the unanimous decision by five judges brought “clarity and confidence” for women and service providers, but trans rights groups have reacted with dismay, warning that it will “exclude trans people wholesale from participating in UK society”.

Vladimir Putin said “humanitarian considerations” were behind his decision to announce a unilateral Easter ceasefire in Ukraine on Saturday, 19 April.

The Russian president said he assumes the Ukrainian side will follow its example and stop hostilities and Russia’s armed forces would be ready to “repel possible ceasefire violations and provocations.”

“Based on humanitarian considerations, today starting from 6pm (3pm GMT) to 12am Monday the Russian side announces an Easter ceasefire,” Putin told his military chief, Valery Gerasimov, at a meeting in the Kremlin.

A Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson said instructions on the ceasefire were given to group commanders in the area of the "special military operation," the Kremlin's term for the war.

Robots have competed against humans in a half marathon for the first time in China.

Thousands of people raced against 21 humanoid robots in Beijing on Saturday (19 April).

Humans and robots ran along the same route on separate tracks over 13 miles.

Colin Farrell has said he will put his son James, who has Angelman syndrome, into a long-term care facility.

The Oscar-nominated star of The Banshees of Inisherin, who recently won a Golden Globe for HBO series The Penguin, has previously opened up about his 21-year-old son’s diagnosis.

Angelman syndrome is a rare disorder that affects the nervous system and causes developmental delays amongst other issues.

He told Candis Magazine that he and his ex-partner Kim Bordenave have come to the “tricky” decision to put their son into a facility due to fears he would be left alone if anything should happen to them.

Two Britons are believed to be among the four people killed after a mountain car cable snapped and plunged into a ravine in southern Italy.

Four tourists and an engineer were on board the cable car when it plunged at “maximum speed” into woodland in Naples after striking a pylon on Thursday afternoon, triggering a major rescue operation in the face of bad weather and fog.

Initial reports suggested that a traction cable may have snapped as the cable car ascended Monte Faito, in the town of Castellammare di Stabia. The cable car plunged into a ravine after stopping very close to the station at the top of the peak, at around 3,400 feet.

The British victims were identified as Margaret Elaine Winn, 58, and Graeme Derek Winn, 65, Italian news agency Ansa reported.

Janan Suliman, an Arab woman with Israeli citizenship, was the third foreign victim to be identified, according to the outlet.
