One of the Idaho roommates who survived the killings came face to face with “evil” murderer Bryan Kohberger at his sentencing and defiantly told him he would “never take away” her voice.

The sentencing of Kohberger is underway, with families and the survivors sharing powerful testimony at Wednesday’s hearing in Boise, Idaho.

On Nov. 13, 2022, Kohberger broke into the home of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, in the small town of Moscow during the middle of the night and stabbed the students to death as most of them slept.

Kohberger, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit and handcuffs, appeared emotionless as he heard heartbreaking statements in the courtroom in Boise, Idaho.

Through tears, Dylan Mortensen told Kohberger that he was “a hollow vessel, something less than human.”

The other surviving roommate, Bethany Funke, whose statement was read aloud by a friend, revealed that she slept in her parents’ bedroom for a year after the murders.

Thousands of people gathered in Kyiv and other cities across Ukraine on Tuesday to urge the president to veto a controversial bill that threatens anti-corruption infrastructure. It marked the first major rally against the government in more than three years of war.

Ukraine ’s parliament passed legislation that will tighten oversight of two key anti-corruption agencies, which critics say could significantly weaken their independence and give President Volodymyr Zelensky’s circle greater sway over investigations.

Zelensky signed the bill into law, according to the parliament’s website late Tuesday.

A couple in the Phillipines were determined to walk down the aisle on their wedding day — even if it meant wading through a flooded one.

Jade Rick Verdillo and Jamaica Aguilar tied the knot at the Barasoain church in Malolos, Bulacan province, which was inundated with water due to heavy rain on Tuesday (22 July).

Typhoon Wipha had intensified seasonal monsoon rains in the Philippines, bringing widespread flooding.

On deciding to push through despite the flooding, Verdillo said: "Before we got married, we were in this relationship for 10 years. We have been through a lot. This is just one of the struggles that we’ve overcome.”

Grieving British families of the Air India crash victims have received the wrong bodies to bury in a bungled repatriation scheme.

A lawyer acting for the bereaved said that the remains of several victims had been wrongly identified, with one family forced to abandon funeral plans after allegedly being told the coffin contained a different, unidentified body.

Only one passenger survived when the Air India flight 171 lost power and crashed into a building, seconds after departing Ahmedabad for London Gatwick.
