US defence secretary Pete Hegseth spoke to reporters at the Pentagon on Sunday, June 22, where he revealed, along with General Dan Caine, the extent of the US military strikes on Iran, titled the 'Midnight Hammer.'

General Dan Caine gave a breakdown of the attacks claiming over 125 US aircrafts were involved in the strikes against three of Iran's nuclear sites, Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan.

Hegseth claimed they devastated the Iranian nuclear programme, giving credit to US President Donald Trump saying, “What the president gave us was a focussed, powerful and clear mission on the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has called the attack an "act of aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities," calling it a flagrant breech of the UN charter.

Iran has said a “dangerous war” with the US has begun after president Donald Trump announced that US warplanes had “obliterated” three nuclear facility sites in Iran.

At around 8pm ET on Saturday, Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social that “very successful” strikes had been carried out on the nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

Iran responded by saying it “reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people,” and called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting.

Eleven people in Israel have been injured following a series of missile attacks launched by Iran, according to emergency services.

One victim suffered shrapnel wounds, while the other 10 were “lightly hurt,” Al Jazeera reported, citing the Magen David Adom national emergency service.

The strikes caused severe damage in Tel Aviv, with several two-story residential buildings heavily damaged or collapsing, emergency responders said.

“This is a large-scale destruction site. Several two-story residential buildings were severely damaged, and some collapsed,” Magen David Adom is quoted as having said by CNN.

Emergency crews, police, and bomb disposal units are actively responding to multiple impact sites across the country, including in the northern city of Haifa.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing at various locations after at least 10 missile impacts were reported.

Addressing the public he said, sites Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan had been “totally and completely obliterated.”

Calling Iran the "bully of the middle east," he called for peace, warning the next attack would be far easier if they didn't comply.

Israel launched attacks against Iran on June 13, claiming the country was on the verge of developing nuclear weapons.

At least 657 people have been killed in Iran with another 2,037 wounded according to a report from the Associated Press.

Iran then retaliated with its own series of airstrikes.
