Podtube is moving to a new system designed to better serve its community—with one important change: it now requires user registration. Don’t worry—a Free tier is available to everyone, so anyone can join.

Why the shift?

The new system aims to tackle some tough challenges:

- First, we’re removing bots and automated abuse that were draining server resources.

- Second, we’re improving the infrastructure so things run smoother and faster.

- Third, this is a human-focused upgrade—we want features that support real users.

- And finally, it’s about financial sustainability—to ensure Podtube can keep running and evolving long into the future.

What’s in it for you?

Benefits vary based on your membership tier, but here are just a few highlights:

- Feed filters to include or exclude Lives, Shorts, and regular videos.

- No self-advertising insertions for paid tiers.

- Extended feed scans—up to 100 videos on first setup.

- Higher update frequency for your feeds.

The new interface is also designed to be friendly for vision-impaired users, making Podtube more inclusive for all.

Now, here’s the roadmap for transitioning from the old system to the new system:

- User registration is already open.

- Creation of feed links in the old system has been disabled.

- By mid-August 2025, updates to old feed links will stop.

- And by the end of August 2025, audio download through old links will be disabled, completing the full migration to the new Podtube system.
