The Nets have traded their best player Mikal Bridges to their crosstown rivals, the New York Knicks.  The Knicks already have three players from the 2018 Villanova championship team, and now they bring in the quick slashing wing, Bridges.  The Nets were briefly building around Mikal after the Kevin Durant trade that brought K.D. to Phoenix. Mikal had an immediate impact in the Nets lineup, averaging 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists, in just 27 games. They were a playoff participant, eventually losing to the Sixers. After the season Mikal played for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. He played well, but the team faltered after group play. When  the '23-'24 season was complete, the Nets had fired their head coach,  missed the playoffs, let go of their interim coach and had no picks for the upcoming draft. 
The Knicks also resigned O.G. Anunoby to a new contract worth $212m, after he opted out of his old contract. 
The Washington Wizards traded for Malcolm Brogden and picks from the Portland Trailblazers.
