Wild Sports Weekend 10/02/26 - 10/05/26 NHL is in full effect with their first full week of games for the new season. MLB Divisional Series are in full swing and there are some surprises making it through the wildcard round. The Chicago White Sox are looking tough this season as a tough out after two 100 loss seasons in recent past. Tampa Bay Rays are also looking to punch their ticket to the championship series of the American League. The National League has two tough Divisional Series going on with the Braves splitting the first two games in L.A. with the Dodgers. The Milwaukee Brewers have caught all of the breaks in two wins versus the San Diego Padres who had a two run blast hit the roof and turn into an unfortunate out. Then in Game 2, Chourio's two run walk-off single ended any hope of the Padres getting a split.

The W has had some controversy in the first round in Indiana and may be losing one of their superstars after a 2-1 loss to the Aces. The Aces came out sluggish to start round two, taking a loss in game one, but should bounce back and silence BallHalla. This should be a five game series.   

The NFL had a good start to Week 4 with the surprising Cleveland Browns getting their third straight strong closeout win led by what seems to be a repentant DeShaun Watson.  The London Games between the Indy Colts and the Washington Commanders was a downer for DC as their backup QB, Marcus Mariota left the game early with a knee injury and Indy took advantage, 30-13 win. The Texans played a tough Texas rivalry game but came up short against the Cowboys 34-30. The surprising 1st place, NY Giants, 36-24 versus the Cardinals and a 3-1 record in the first four. The Carolina Panthers beat the Detroit Lions 32-26 Bryce Young, 29/41 329 2-TDs 0-INT Chuba Hubbard 122 on 20 carries, Tetairoa McMillian 192 receiving yards on 14 catches. On Monday Night the Falcons went down to NOLA for a divisional game with the Saints and ran the Robinsons down their throats, Bijan 145 on 19 carries, 2-TDs and Brian 62 on 14 carries, 3-TDs.

We cover the first two games of the NBA Finals, the New York Knicks versus the San Antonio Spurs. The two games in San Antonio were hard fought and filled with mistakes by the upstart Spurs. They showed all of their cards early in the contest getting double figure leads, all to fall back into despair down the stretch and lost both games at home. They are now headed to the Mecca of basketball at Madison Square Garden where the crowd had been awaiting the return to the Garden and a possible sweep. The crowd will be diminished in a sense because an unwanted house guest is forcing the closure of the watch party areas around the building and fans that do get in the building are being treated to TSA style searches. Hopefully for the teams they won't be distracted too much. As for the Conference Finals, the favorites were Detroit in the East and Oklahoma City in the West. I think the league manipulated the results for the Spurs to be catapulted into the Finals. Detroit did themselves in and the Knicks are the class of the East, sweeping the last two rounds and winning 11 games in a row (13) to represent the East.

The WBC Final pitted the underdog Venezuela team versus The USA. The Venezuela team scored first in the 3rd inning off a sacrifice by Maikel Garcia and again in the 5th, off a homer by Wilyer Abreu for 2-0 lead and kept the United States team at bay for most of the night. Venezuela's pitching was solid all night until Bryce Harper jacked a two run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the U.S. life. In the top of the 9th, Luis Arraez led off with a walk and Javier Sanoja came in to run for Arraez. Sanoja stole 2nd and came home as Eugenio Suarez doubled to center. Listen to the pod to hear what happened next.

Week 18 in the NFL and the playoff matchups are not settled. Ravens win and they are in. Panthers needed a win to clinch a spot, and if they loss they needed help to still make the playoffs. We give our opinions on playoff winners and losers. Super Bowl picks???

Week 6, Thursday Night Football, the Eagles play the Giants in the Meadowlands. The new Qb Jaxon Dart and his sidekick in the backfield Cam Skattebo wreak havoc on the Eagles who are currently dealing with conflict and dissension in the locker room. They are saying all the right things but this 0-2 record in the last two games says different. On Sunday Morning, the Broncos took on the Jets in London England, and the defensive battle left the New York Jets a broken offense. They compiled a total of 82 yards for the game. You read that right, 82 yards. The Jets dropped to 0-6...

Week 4 of the NFL. Part 2. Recap now Thursday Night Football on Prime - Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals. Sam Darnold played an efficient game and got the win. In our opinion Marvin Harrison Jr. needs more touches. Two Monday Night Football Games took place with the New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Denver Broncos. The Jets started the game pounding the ball in the running game from one end of the field to the other, but they failed to score turning the ball over as they crossed the goal line. Their defense is still one of the best in the league, but they couldn't prevent the loss27-21. Tyreek Hill is out for the season with a gruesome injury to his knee. The Broncos blew out the Bengals 28-3. I know it's early but the Broncos seem to be positioning themselves for a playoff run. 

Which school has the best receivers in the league, L.S.U. or Ohio State? Is there another school we missed who has at least three receivers making their mark in the NFL? Let us know!!!

Shout out to Lewis Hamilton, the F1 driver for Ferrari who lost his best friend Roscoe. We love Roscoe and send our prayers to Lewis Hamilton.

This week in the NFL brought a lot of excitement again. Pittsburgh and Minnesota met in Dublin on Sunday morning and gave a good show for American style football. Aaron Rodgers hit DK Metcalf on a 80 yard strike to give the Steelers the lead that they would not give back. Carson Wentz had 350 yards on 30-46 with 2 TD but also 2 INTs. The Falcons handled the Commanders, Michael Pennix Jr is proving to be the new Lefty in Atlanta. The Giants gave Jaxson Dart his first start and got in the winning column against the 3-0 LA Chargers. The Bills and Eagles remained undefeated now standing at 4-0. There was so much action we had to cut this episode into two parts. Stay tuned for Part 2 release.

It was a very exciting week in the NFL. The freshman pod went LIVE on YouTube this week and the games were  off the chain. Blocked kicks, pick 6s, defensive excellence across the board. Fresh Mint Pod does a Review for Week 1 in the NFL and a Preview of Week 2. The Micah Parsons trade is having an impact in the first two weeks of the season. We had a spitting incident and a nose dive by the Baltimore Ravens versus the Buffalo Bills. Some of the young Qbs are making noise but the Bears Caleb Williams is not improving even with Ben Johnson at the helm. As we go into Week 2, can the other young guns continue to trend? Josh MIntz likes the Ravens vs. Chargers in the AFC Championship Game. Chiefs and Bills fans are in an uproar...!! It's still early in the season but these teams are starting to trend in the wrong direction. I mistakenly said the Pack wore their Winter Storm Warning Whites in Week 1 versus the Lions. That was wrong they wore the whites versus the Commanders. Either way, same results.

It's a New Season and Season 3 is starting later the usual. The Fresh Mint Pod Crew looks at the off-season turmoil that threatened success vs. failure for three teams looking to have successful seasons. The Bengals, Commanders and Cowboys needed to settle contract disputes with star players. All but the Cowboys did so. We then preview the Week 1 of the NFL Season and there is one Super Bowl Prediction, (ALREADY???) UPDATE:
