The Seahawks 4th round (#109) draft pick Coby Bryant has been turning a lot of heads at Training Camp and Salk is starting to believe he could be winning the starting cornerback job, similar to the way Richard Sherman (5th rounder) did years ago. Thursdays belong to The Jerry Dipoto Show and Salk was pumped to hear what Jerry had to say after Luis Castillo's outing yesterday and his thoughts/feelings on the trade deadline, plus when we might be seeing the injured players return to the lineup.

Salk loves what he saw from Luis Castillo and plays the clip of Scott Servais saing it's like having "vintage Felix." Salk wonders if this take some pressure off of Robbie Ray? Salk shifts the conversation to Seahawks football with Michael Bumpus (Bump & Stacy, 10a-2p) to hear updates on what he's been watching from training camp the last week+ and shares couple names that have stuck out to him. Brock Huard makes his daily appearance to discuss Luis Castillo and the bad job of umpires.

Salk loved that Mariners fans know what it means to have an ace seeing Luis Castillo yesterday. Seahawks have most physical practice yet and Drew Lock does well and we learned the NFL will appeal Watson suspension. We revisit the Jeff Passan conversation from yesterday to hear his summation of Luis Castillo and how he casually mentions the Mariners being in the playoffs. Salk shares his experience taking Avery to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at T-Mobile Park.

Salk thinks the Mariners must believe more strongly in their injured players than others do and are maybe hoping Haniger returns to form & a few other guys can improve. But they got the best pitcher and Jeff Passan (Senior MLB Insider, ESPN) agrees and goes one step further to say Castillo is a #1 starter. Passan also goes on to say the Soto move might have been the biggest trade ever in baseball. Brock Huard surprises Salk and Passan by joining the show early and discuss the Mariners trade deadline moves.

Mariners get a huge win last night at Yankee Stadium and Salk spends a few minutes venting about how much he hates that team, their fans, ghosts of the stadium and everything else that goes into that place. The trade deadline has come and passed and the Mariners made their moves, but were they enough? Salk gives them a B to B+ simply because the Castillo move was so big. We revisit the conversation with Seahawks DT Al Woods because we loved him so much before getting back to baseball.

The Mariners went in but not all in and that makes sense. They aren't going to win the division. They are one of three wildcard teams currently and the teams below them didn't improve. Plus, an early edition of Ranked before the Mariners matinee.

We've got some breaking news this hour. Reports are that the Nationals are finalizing a deal with the Padres for Juan Soto. We discuss how that deal stacks up with what the M's could have offered. There is also new that the NFL is docking the Dolphins two draft picks and suspending owner Stephen Ross for tampering but they determined he didn't attempt to tank. Seems fishy to us. Then, Brock Huard shares his wants and needs for the Mariners at the trade deadline.

Salk is joined by former Seahawks beat reporter Joe Fann to discuss Training Camp observations and how the team can make the biggest improvements (besides QB). Seahawks defensive tackle (and very interesting guy) Al Woods is live from Seahawks training camp for a quick discussion about his role on the team and life away from football. We get some Breaking News reports are that the Nationals are finalizing a deal with the Padres for Juan Soto and NFL punishment to the Miami Dolphins.

The Mariners just need to "hold the line" a little longer, according to Salk. Get through the rough stretch vs. really good teams and let your reinforcements come back to you with time. France, Julio, Haniger will return (hopefully) and Luis Castillo pitches tomorrow. Tuesdays are for accountability and we see the Major League Football, LIV Golf and others 'Take the L' before Brock Huard shares what he WANTS and NEEDS the Mariners to do before today's deadline.

Salk starts the show with a comment he overheard at his daughter's Little League game about how Seattle “celebrates mediocre victories” and why that's awful. The Mariners got shelled in New York and it serves as a reminder of their lack of firepower. We revisit the conversation with Rashaad Penny and discuss his future with the team before Salk's observations from Seahawks Training Camp. Salk says the defense might be pretty good, but the offense looks AWFUL and the quarterbacks are… backups. Biggest standout was Nwosu.
