Mulder and Scully investigate a series of murders where the hearts of the victims are removed. Eventually, Mulder suspects the killer is his new neighbor, a struggling writer named Philip Padgett, who is obsessed with Scully. This episode was written by Chris Carter (teleplay), Frank Spotnitz, and John Shiban (story) and directed by Kim Manners.
