Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Jesus’ last week of pre-resurrection life and is filled with events that, when considered, have life changing lessons. It is often referred to as Jesus’ “Triumphal Entry” because it is marked with widespread praise and apparent recognition of His greatness. As we examine Matthew’s record of the event we are again reminded of the faultiness of a casual relationship with Him and of the need to know Him more deeply. Paul later said in Phil 3:10, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,” What really constitutes a ‘triumphal entry” of Christ? What sustains His pre-eminence in our lives? What does His entrance eliminate in our lives?
