Pastor Chris continues our teaching series entitled “James: Faith in Action.” In this seventh study of the series, “The Destructive Power of Favoritism,” we study in James 2:1-13, through which we receive a warning about exercising favoritism within the community of Jesus. We, instead, are to be full of mercy, joining Jesus in his way of rejecting power’s corruption and moving towards others in compassion.

Pastor Chris continues our teaching series entitled “James: Faith in Action.” In this sixth study of the series, “The Power of Our Words,” we study in James 1:19-21, 3:1-12 and 4:11-12, through which we receive an invitation to grow in our control of the tongue even as we grow as disciples/followers of Jesus.

We continue this week in our James series, Faith in Action, with a teaching titled "When You Are Tempted." James writes, "When you are tempted, do not say, 'God is tempting me.'" the follower of Christ is guaranteed to face temptation. No matter the circumstance, we will go through hard things. But James points us toward holding onto the good gifts of God rather than giving in to temptation. This Sunday we will be unpacking the root of temptation, how it grows, and how we can ultimately kill the temptation that so easily gives birth to sin.

Pastor Chris continues our teaching series entitled “James: Faith in Action.” In this third study of the series, “Dealing with Challenges and Trials,” we study in James 1:2-4 and 5:7-12, through which we receive a framework for joy in suffering and patience as we wait on God when faced with difficulties.

This week, we're excited to have Marcia, our Family Ministries Pastor, continue our series on James!

We'll dive into how we should pray, exploring James 1:5-8 and 5:13-18 together.

The New Testament letter of James is viewed as a leading source of wisdom for those building their lives around Jesus. James writes as the pastor of the Jerusalem church in the middle of the first century as many Jewish followers of Jesus (Messianic Jews) had been scattered throughout the region of the world. This pastoral letter covers many areas of life, calling us to a serious consideration of our way in Jesus and a humble, gentle, wise response to his love and rule. We are excited to teach through it! 

Our six-month journey in 1 Corinthians comes to a close as we study 1 Corinthians 15:35-16:24. We’ve already seen Paul explain the importance of the resurrection, and now we’ll reflect on a simple yet profound truth: Because of the victory of the resurrection, our labor is not in vain! 

As we are hosting the MENACA conference on Friday and Saturday, we have the great honor of hearing from Pastor Ihsan, the President of Foursquare Turkey and an apostolic leader in this most remarkable country and people. The Foursquare work in Turkey is thriving in large part due to Pastor Ihsan’s steady faithfulness and courageous witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the rule of his Kingdom. 

Pastor Mark Chester has been a dear friend of Chris and Jenifer for the past 20 years, as he and his wife Geri began to pastor Gettysburg Foursquare at the same time Chris and Jenifer began serving here at Mill Creek Foursquare. Pastor Mark is an excellent communicator of the Scriptures and the mission of Jesus we are all invited into. Excited for us to receive from these two wonderful leaders!
