Do you ever feel like everyone around you who is not your age range, apart from the few dummies who quote every google article they see as gospel, blames you for every little problem that comes to their tiny brains? Well, then you must be a millennial. Everyday we hear about the negative effects of ageism from various political candidates, but this is mostly referring to senior citizens, and even that would be non-existent were it not for the current pandemic, and subsequent election seasons. However, when it comes to millennials, its pretty much open season. Over the last eight years, that's spanning one rabidly authoritarian administration, and one that was only moderately authoritarian, I have been blamed for every problem on the ballot from the rising cost of health care, to the fact that Jim Joe Bob lost his pig farm...You know, the ones that my ancestors from Africa built. Poor Jim Joe Bob. Woe unto us all if such a scholar and a gentleman cannot ritualistically abuse animals on his land that slaves once tilled! Meanwhile, self-proclaimed environmentalist are blaming coronavirus on meat eaters because the occasional chicken breast I eat is what is going to kill us all, not the fact that neither democrats, nor republicans have pledged to stop the negative business practices that lead to pandemics. "No, it's that asshole in Silicon Valley eating chicken dinner. He's the real problem!" But climate change, which is very real, is not the only issue that American is blaming millennials for. Though we've only been around for about thirty five years, and have the lowest amount of income among any active work force, and not for lack of training, apparently we were responsible for the Capitol Riots, racial equality protests, "rewriting" (this means being honest when you make a mistake, and try to correct it in "expert" speak) history, get freedom of speech censored, twitter, and, of course, fidget spinners, some crap toy that boomers probably made. Why is everything bad always automatically blamed on us? Did our parents and leaders just decide one day that they were going to completely shirk all responsibility for their destructive actions, and decide to blame it all on us. Yes, that is exactly what has happened. We all know, though some of us like to pretend we don't, that a lack of voter enthusiasm for democrats in 2016 should not be blamed on the voters, but on a society that has clearly decided to give their children the middle finger. No matter how much they love to boast about responsibility, prior generations have been nothing but irresponsible with the planet they blame us for destroying. Industrial expansion, which most serious climate scientists blame for the continuing degradation of the planet, was fostered during the industrial revolution, which began in 1760, a far cry from millennials, who would not even begin to be born for about another 220 years. Indeed, before I started being beaten over the head with article after article written by some wealthy snob in a college campus cafe about how horrible of a person I am, I did not even view humanity as anything more than one big generation of nonsense. All this talk of being unique or special because the group you belong to are all the same age is just plain stupid. I don't hang out with millennials all day talking crap about boomers. So, why is the media, which is filled with boomers, and represents the opinions of boomers, blaming my generation, a broken down bunch of gig workers without a shot at social security, bothering us for? Simple, they're passing the buck. Image credit goes to Andre Hunter. Sound credit goes to bensound.com
