Someday, on my deathbed, I will utter my final words in this cumbersome, earthly body of mine, and those words will probably be one final declaration of love for the film CLEAN, SHAVEN.
On the finale of Million-Dollar Day Player, Peter Van Pelt returns to discuss Greene’s stunning performance in Lodge Kerrigan’s 1993 masterpiece CLEAN, SHAVEN. We spoil and badly explain the film’s commentary on mental health in the 90s and muse aloud if we’ll ever reclaim any feeling of happiness after watching it.

You haven’t seen this movie, and that’s okay! I fished COYOTE RUN out of the Canadian wilderness and got it a ticket to the US so that Brandy and Ryan Koch could watch this hidden gem of Peter’s filmography with me!

LIVE from a hot and sticky southern kitchen in the dead of summer, Alicia Briscoe and I make each other laugh incessantly and devote a lot of time to discussing tiny guns and the very Hitchcockian score of THE RICH MAN’S WIFE.

You will never find Alicia on social media.
You can’t properly talk about Greene’s career without talking about the cigarette flick heard around the world in THE USUAL SUSPECTS. It’s been said that he did something kinda crazy in PULP FICTION too.
Peter Van Pelt and I say the name “Ving Rhames” a lot and discuss the two film roles most associated with his career. As it turns out, there’s a chance that one of them doesn’t actually exist at all!

On this episode, Phil Keeling helps me unpack the layers and themes of LAWS OF GRAVITY, a gritty character study written and directed by Nick Gomez. This film is credited with getting Peter cast in PULP FICTION. I’m credited with making Phil carry the bulk of this episode.

THE MASK did two things really well for Quatoyiah and me: it scared the crap out of her and for me, it gave me a very confusing crush on Peter’s heel of a character, Dorian Tyrell, at a young age. In the first episode of Million-Dollar Day Player, Quatoyiah Murry and I take a dive into the movie that introduced both of us to Peter Greene and gave us an unreasonable fear of golf tees. P.S. The sight of Peter Greene’s face on my television screen has been making me beam since I was 8-years-old and secretly rooting for him in the 1994 Jim Carrey vehicle THE MASK. The evidence of his talent was immediate to me and made me actively seek out his work. I’ve never once been disappointed by the performances turned in by Peter. I’ve been disappointed in the creative space he’s been allowed in some of the roles and perhaps Hollywood’s obnoxious habit of typecasting him, but I’ve always bet on him to be mesmerizing in everything, no matter how many frames he’s been given, and I haven’t lost yet. While I don’t get to discuss every role of Peter’s that I want to in this series, I think I put together a pretty good mixture of staple roles and indie gems that help demonstrate the range of his talent.
