FOUR COUNTIES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ARRESTS AND RESCUES

Every year leading up to the Superbowl and following January (National Human Trafficking Awareness month) we are bombarded with publicity about how large events attract pimps and traffickers and human trafficking activities see a significant increase.  Now that the events are over, we have the facts.  If you participate in a sex trafficking operation during this time - you will get caught!

California Statewide:

Authorities made almost 500 human trafficking arrests in California during Super Bowl week – White House Wire

Law enforcement agencies in California made nearly 500 human trafficking-related arrests and aided more than 80 trafficking victims in the state in a sex trade crackdown executed during Super Bowl week, authorities announced on Tuesday.

The statewide effort, called Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, was coordinated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department but involved agencies from Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and seven other counties.

For this year’s operation, RCAHT task force officers and our allied Riverside County law enforcement partners held operations in the cities of Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Riverside, Palm Desert, San Jacinto and Temecula. Over the span of four consecutive days, the task force arrested 31 males and 7 females for solicitation of prostitution to include 4 adult victims rescued.

Task force officers also made contact with two adult females believed to be victims of sex trafficking. Initial investigations led the task force to believe these subjects were being forced to engage in acts of prostitution against their will. The identity of these victims will not be released pursuant to state confidentiality laws. The victims were referred to victim services for assistance as the investigation into their sex trafficking continues.

Orange County

56 arrested on suspicion of human trafficking in Orange County during Super Bowl week

56 arrests  rescued 16 victims of trafficking just before Superbowl Sunday

Two of the rescued victims were minors.

Los Angeles County

Sheriff Alex Villanueva said 74 adults and eight children were rescued, while 34 suspected traffickers were arrested. About 200 sex buyers, known as johns, were also taken into custody as part of the operation.
