Thanksgiving and Christmas time often brings our life into perspective. We might find ourselves looking at what is important in our lives. We recently saw a poem that was forwarded to us by an old friend. It is called "Winter of my Life". It reminds us all of how finite our lives are and how critical it is to live a life of gratitude.
Granny&Grampsplace: Winter of my Life
This poem reminds us of what is important. Family, friends, honesty, values, truth, forgiveness, and health are some of the critical elements of a life well lived. It also reiterates to us how important it is to educate our young people that each decision they make will build the character they have chosen.
I am reminded of a sage piece of advice given to me by Dr. Gary Jorgensen in Utah. You are responsible for your own happiness. A thousand times a day you get to decide. Be responsible and build character or blame others and reap a life of misery. As we go into the holiday season, we realize that gratitude is the gift from God that makes our lives complete.
