Looking at Psalm 31:9-16

Today, we celebrate Palm Sunday… this is also the start of the church’s Holy Week… Our Scripture today is Psalm 31 and it’s one of three psalms that appear prominently in the story of Jesus’ final week on the way to the cross... This part of the story begins in Matthew 21 where the writer tells us of Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem.., and tells us of the prophecy in the Old Testament where we can find the announcement that the King of Israel would arrive in Jerusalem… that’s in Zechariah 9.9 where it says he enters… not as a warrior on his horse, but on a donkey.

About Psalm 23: After reading Psalm 23, what kind of thought comes to mind? It’s really familiar… I just about know it by memory… what else? … We are most likely to hear Psalm 23 read at funerals, where it offers a powerful message of hope in the face of death. But this psalm offers just as much hope for facing life in all its uncertainty.
